I am a self-taught artist, having had no formal education in art. I graduated instead, in medicine, working my left brain! However, I have loved drawing since I was a child, but only had the opportunity to rekindle my love for art when I took a sabbatical from working full time, and, in 2007, met like-minded individuals, who had no formal training in art, but were passionate about creating it!
I am tremendously grateful for the various circumstances that have enabled me to become involved in art, and the opportunity to grow as an artist.
I have since become known as the "arty aunty" amongst friends, who organises art bootcamps, art projects, art days etc for the kids to prevent them from getting too bored! In fact, when pondering on what the studio's name should be, several friends suggested "Arty Farty", others felt I should have my signature "E" ( I'm also known as "aunty E".
So...the idea grew and took shape...resulting in "The ArtEspace". A bit of a mouthful, some said, and TAES was born.
I hope that having a facility like TAES in the community will inspire you to find your arty self, and allow you to nurture your creativity.
